Chandeliers
Modern designers are returning to using chandeliers
to add just the right touch to a dining area or entry hall.
No longer are homeowners limited to the multi-armed, shiny brass chandelier with faux candle sockets. Murray Feiss Lighting offers more than 200 styles with a variety of finishes for any decor. Not only will they add an aura of festivity, but also offer a feeling of elegance.
Many do-it-your-selfers make mistakes when choosing a chandelier,
but it's not difficult to choose the right fixture and hang it properly.
Just follow these guidelines:
If there is no table in the room, base the size of the sockets. Murray Feiss chandelier on the room dimensions. If your room is 10 feet by 12 feet, add the two numbers together (22) and convert into inches. In this case you will need a chandelier that is 22 inches in diameter. Using an oversized chandelier is perfectly acceptable, but avoid one too small unless you are planning to hand two or more.
Proper placement is vital. In a dining room, hang the chandelier directly above the center of the table. The chandelier should be 30 inches from the top of the table to avoid interferring with the diners.
Use recessed lighting or wall sconces as a complement to the light cast by the chandelier. By adding this type of lighting to the corners of your room, it will not only visually expand the room, but will focus attention to the chandelier.
Make good use of a dimmer to add the right mood to the room; lower lighting for soft mood dining, and brighter for tasks.
If you have a long, narrow table, consider using several small, low-voltage Murray Feiss pendants instead of a chandelier to assure an even distribution of light.
